Five days a week, you will be enrolled in Spanish classes at a local language school to increase your proficiency. In the afternoons, do your part to help change the lives and environment of Nicaragua by volunteering. On free days, spend time with your host family and fellow volunteers, exploring the town and nightlife, relaxing on the beach or taking part in exciting excursions, such as volcano boarding, surfing, eco explorations and historic tours....

Volunteer Placements

Three weeks before departure, our students are notified of their volunteer placement. Students are placed in various volunteer programs in nearby volunteer organizations called The Pure Earth Project ‘Tierra Pura’ working on projects such as children’s education, marine turtle conservation and community building.

Pure Earth Marine Sea Turtle Conservation Project

You will be stationed at a volunteer house next to a mangrove forested Island reserve that has twenty kilometers of completely uninhabited beach. It is on these beaches that endangered sea turtles come to lay their eggs and the Pure Earth Conservation efforts are focused.

Assistant at local school in Salinas Grandes

You will be stationed at our volunteer house based on the beach of Salinas Grandes. The daily program runs from Monday to Friday where you attend the school and assist the teachers with their lessons. School hours are from 7.30 am until 12pm and you will be given a bicycle to travel back and forth from the volunteer house to the school everyday. You will take Spanish classes in the morning at Leon’s best language school, Dariana Spanish School. Classes are held four days a week in order to gain foreign language proficiency. SUMMER SPANISH PROGRAMS

If you choose a program that includes a Spanish course you will have a choice of: Home-stay where you will be living with a local host family in León. Nicaraguans are some of the most warm and welcoming people you will ever meet and are sure to make you feel at home. Families will provide you with three meals a day during your stay. Staying with a local family will also enhance your Spanish learning experience.
